Secondary school places for 2017

How the process works

Applications to transfer to secondary school are co-ordinated by the Local Authority in which you live. Each year when children enter Year 6 they will receive an application to apply to transfer to secondary school into Year 7.
If your child attends an independent school you must contact your Local Authority during the summer before your child enters Year 6 to register to receive this form.
The closing date each year for these forms to be returned is 31 October and offer letters are sent to parents on the following 1 March (or the next working day).
If your child is in year 6 and you wish to apply for them to transfer to secondary school you will be able to apply online for a place for them from 12 September 2016.
The closing date for secondary applications is 31 October 2016. It is not first come first served so please ensure that you have read the PDF file downloadGuide to Secondary Education 2017 to 2018 (PDF, 2954kb) and visited all schools that you wish to be considered for before submitting your application.
If you do not wish to apply online and would prefer to use a paper application form then either ask your child’s Bracknell Forest primary school or contact the School Admissions Team.
Those who have applied online for a secondary school place will be sent an email on 1 March 2017. If you have applied using a paper form then your letter will be posted on 1 March 2017.

Waiting list applications

For Bracknell Forest schools your child's name will be placed on the waiting list for the academic year for which you have applied. For those applying to transfer from year 6 to 7 they will be held on the relevant waiting lists for the whole of the academic year.
If you wish your child's name to be placed back on the waiting list for the following academic year (year 8 onwards) you can apply after the 1st July. Parents must also contact The School Admissions Team at the end of each school term to confirm their wish to remain on a waiting list for the following school term within the same academic year.
